Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, and Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) via this app provides consumers in India access to product labelling information required under Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules 2011, and FSSAI license information.

Simply scan the product barcode and get access to:

• Product/Commodity Name
• Name & Address of Manufacturer/Packer/Importer
• Month & Year of Manufacture/Pack/Import
• MRP
• Net Content
• FSSAI license number and its validity
• Consumer care details (phone & email) for lodging grievances/feedback

Consumers can also send product feedbacks or register complaints/concerns related to the product directly to the Regulators.

Smart Consumer mobile app has been developed by the Department of Consumer affairs, in association with GS1 India – a standard body set up by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, along with BIS, and apex trade bodies.
